The Santacruz Medical and Social Association (SMSA), established in 1963, is one of the oldest associations of its kind. Today, we are a thriving community of over 700 members, comprising medical practitioners who either reside in or practice in Santacruz.
Our aim is to hone professional medical knowledge and skills along with cultivating a spirit of professional camaraderie and friendship among our members and their families through a variety of academic and other socio-cultural activities. These include the annual academic conference along with online and offline scientific sessions focused at medical education and updation of knowledge and skills, also plan and execute domestic and international trips, as well as celebrations of festivals such as Diwali and Navratri.
Our commitment to social responsibility is reflected in our regular medical camps for the underprivileged in rural areas, blood donation drives, and our efforts to support humanitarian causes, particularly during times of crisis such as natural disasters. Through these diverse initiatives, SMSA continues to have meaningful connections, promote lifelong learning, and uphold our commitment to both the medical fraternity and the wider community. We take pride in the vibrant spirit of togetherness that defines our association and look forward to building on this legacy for generations to come.
Since birth of SMSA it has always taken great strides, be it in academic, variety entertainment, sports, developing feelings of fraternity, friendship cohesiveness, social service by arranging Baby showers, cardiac camps, health check up.
Time flies. It seems only yesterday that SMSA was formed. In this association members are not competitors but all are companions and that is the real wealth of life.
The Present status of SMSA is glorious. Never had imagined even in dreams that our esteemed Association would scale such high peaks. We had started the small circle of friends and seniors with purpose of increasing activities which was absent then.
Our Association is the first Association in the suburbs, formed on 3rd May 1963. It was then known as The Santacruz Medical Association. As it progressed our members came closer and then we named it as Santacruz Medical Social Association.
I became President when I was just third year in practice. It was difficult to work with such senior stalwarts. But in few days I was a member of a family and I could easily manage two years in Office.
It was a great time and pleasure to work as a President of this unique and grand Santacruz Medical Social Association. Members and their families have always enjoyed together.
When we joined SMSA we did not even know each other. Now we are much more than friends. Down the years we got close not only to our committee members but to all the members of SMSA.
